The tour is divided into two parts, the first road leads to the Lagunas de Montebello National Park, which houses the Esmeralda, La Encantada, Bosque Azul, Ensueño and Agua Tinta lakes. Alongside them there are various services offering food, and excursions to San Rafael, a 40 meter high arch over a canyon where the small stream known as the Paso del Soldado begins.
The second road leads the Lagunas de Montebello, Cañada, Pojoj, Tziscao and Dos Lagunas, among others. There are hostels, canteens and raft rentals here.
The forests are home to a variety of wildlife, including birds such as the woodpecker, buzzard real and trogon, and other animals like the white-tailed deer, tyra and flying squirrel. You can go scuba diving, swimming, camping, hiking, canoeing or paddling on log rafts, horseback riding, as well as flora and fauna watching. There are also several restaurants and local informants who offer tours through the lagoons.
