The Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve in Quintana Roo is located along the coast of the Caribbean.

The Sian Ka'an barrier reef is extraordinarily beautiful. It is about 110 km long, making it the second longest reef in the world.

Various marine environments can be found in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve that are representative of the state´s coastal landscapes, including sandy beaches, mangroves, shallow bays, rocky beaches, marshes and reefs. The reserve protects a large number of animal species thanks to the different vegetation types and ecological conditions found here. Within the fauna in this area, there have been 326 species of birds registered and 96 mammals, including two dolphins, four whales and 39 bats. Also, Sian Ka'an is the largest protected crocodile habitat in Mexico. Every visitor will appreciate the ecological jewels found in this beautiful ecological reserve.
